During their second module in Hong Kong, the MSGF Class of 2017 visited the Hong Kong Monetary Authority to explore the history and major events of financial markets in Asia and Hong Kong.
The visit started by a guided tour at the Hong Kong Monetary Authority Information Center where our students can trace the development of money and banking in Hong Kong. There was also a display of timeline focusing on Hong Kong's monetary and banking history.
Highlight of the visit was the talk by Mr Arthur Yuen, deputy Cheif Executive of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority. Himself an HKUST alumnus, Mr Yuen shared with the group current issues of the global financial markets, and how potential risk factors which may impact the global markets today given all uncertainties in the economic and political landscape.
