How important are CEOs to investors and firm performance, and how do firms manage succession challenges? These questions remain key to stock market performance as an extraordinary generation of Asian CEOs and family business owners age, raising uncomfortable questions about succession and intergenerational wealth management.
Across Asia, the CEOs and family heads of the largest businesses are coming of age. These business leaders have overcome many formidable challenges in building some of the most successful businesses in the world. Succession planning is the final challenge – one that, without sufficient preparation, can threaten their entire legacy and result in deteriorating firm performance.
The HKUST-NYU Stern Master of Science in Global Finance (MSGF) program and CFA Society Korea are co-hosting a finance seminar on March 12 in Seoul.
In this seminar, Professor Kasper Meisner Nielsen will address the succession challenges facing Asian businesses, provide a roadmap for overcoming these challenges, and highlight important lessons from past successions. The talk will also feature an overview of recent research on the value of the CEO and how investors in financial markets actively bet on CEOs.
